My experience is a diverse accumulation gained from working in several creative industries. Each has their unique creative and technical requirements.
As an art director in the film industry, I was able to be a part of several music videos, independent films, and a television pilot show. The responsibilities ranged from location scouting, set design, prop design and production, lighting design, and managing an art team. These projects included working with unique personalities, challenging timelines, and long hours. Being a part of creating the look and feel of the video, was very exciting and rewarding.
As a designer and production manager in my own business, I was responsible for creating designs, overseeing the technical development, working with suppliers to purchase materials, and overseeing manufacturing both domestic and international. My clients included the military, sports vendors, and casinos. Projects ranged from digital and printed collateral, promotional items, garment design and production.
As a multimedia designer, I created high-profile marketing graphics, videos and animations for tradeshows, special events, and company collateral using a variety of industry-standard content creation software including Adobe, Autodesk, Boris, Maxon, and others to generate 3D models, motion tracking, motion graphics, and visual effects. Video and print projects often required animations and still renders based on 3D models created from engineering CAD data. I was also responsible for generating 2D visual effects, motion-tracking, and sensitive object removal.
When I was promoted to a creative manager, I was able to pull upon all of these experiences. This would include: managing a team of artists and designers, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and on budget, collaborating with directors and executives on creative initiatives, and responsible for design direction. Having the ability to be a part of the creative process and understanding the technical demands needed to ensure that it is completed successfully is a strength and something that I enjoy very much.
